Relationship-Counselling for Couples.

Relationship counselling aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where you and your partner can look into any problems you are experiencing.

This may be an ongoing concern such as arguing too much, dealing with step-children, sexual difficulties, joint finances or wanting to change habits around the house. Some couples may be in crisis, and may want to work hard on their relationship during a temporary sepparation. Others need work out how to divorce in the best way for everyone.

Many couples are doing OK, but want to improve the quality of their life together.

Womens Therapy Link practitioners offer couples-counselling to  heterosexual couples.

Sometimes one partner has reservations about the usefulness of coming for couples-counselling. In heterosexual couples this is sometimes, but by no means always, the male partner. We take time to discuss these concerns, and try to help both partners feel that they are benefitting from their couples counselling sessions.

We appreciate that the male partner may imagine that a woman counsellor will automatically 'take sides' with the female partner. Our training and ethos makes sure that this is not the case. We always aim to put both partners at their ease, and to maintain an atmosphere of fairness.

We also provide couples-counselling for LGBT relationships:

We are aware of the pressures that can affect the LGBT communities. WTL practitioners have extensive experience working with lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals and couples.

Pellin Contribution-Training (CT) has been at the forefront of non-judgemental counselling approaches to sexual orientation for over twenty-five years. (For more information about Pellin Contribution-Training click on our qualifications.)

Getting started:

Our counsellor will arrange to meet you and your partner together for an initial session where she will explain her approach. She will discuss the length of the sessions and her fees, and she will answer any of the questions you may have at the outset.

Our practitioners are independant of your friends, workmates and family, so they are able to be much more impartial about what is happening between you.

All couples counselling sessions take place in appropriately private settings. You will not be expected to sit in busy waiting-rooms.

Talking about relationship issues can help build a better future.

Some people fear that talking about concerns will only make them worse. Most people are agreeably surprised at how helpful it can be to discuss their issues in depth with the support of a professional couples-counsellor.

Many couples have said that they would have come sooner if they had known how much they would benefit from their sessions together.

If you or your partner would like to ask any questions about couples counselling, do not hesitate to contact us.
